Jeanne Miller

Jeanne Scott Miller, 85, Independence, MO passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at The Groves in Independence, MO. Jeanne was born February 21, 1923 in Independence the daughter of Thomas Garland and Jesse Beryl (Franklin) Scott. She was a graduate of Wm Chrisman High School and Graceland College. Jeanne was employed with the Herald House Publishing Company for 15 years and she retired from the Oregon California Trails Association (OCTA). She was a 12 year member of the Independence Board of Education, serving as President for 4 years and Vice President for 2 years. She was a 50 year member and past President of the Independence Young Matrons. President of the Eastern Jackson County National Parliamentarians, and Chairman for the Scholarship Foundation for Independence School District. She also a member of the Gudgell Park Congregation Community of Christ Church. Jeanne married Richard Wayne Miller on April 30, 1946 in Independence, MO. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her son, Christopher Miller, a sister, Carolyn Dawson and her parents. Survivors include her son, R. Scott Miller and his wife Mary Beth of Colleyville, TX; niece Jeanne Ann Simpson and a nephew Tom Dawson. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 30, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.
