Harvie K. Mock, age 92, of Independence, Mo. died on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Vitas Hospice Care Center in Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
Born October 19, 1922 in Mountain View, Mo., he was the son of Ralph D. and JoHanna E. (Bollweg) Mock. He and Mary Ann (Held) were married on June 27, 1993.
Mr. Mock graduated from Appleton City High School, Appleton City, Mo., in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Marine Corp South Pacific from 1942 – 1946. He was employed at Exide Battery Co., Kansas City, Mo., from 1947 until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Independence, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Fraternity Order of Eagles - FOE 3717 in Sugar Creek, Mo.
Surviving are his wife Mary Ann of the home in Independence; one son Glen (Connie) Mock of Mercer, Mo.; three daughters, Malana Brumble of Independence, Mo., Tanya (Don) Elliott of Kansas City, Mo., and Wendy (Shawn) Mock-Kelley of Peculiar, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Dana Apple of Centerview, Mo., Terrie (Dave) Donovan of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Michelle (Tom) Ferguson of Odessa, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death are one son Harvie Keith Mock Jr.; one daughter, Debbie Taylor; four brothers, Thomas, James, R.D., and Robert; and one half-sister Kathy Weston.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held Saturday April 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Speaks Memorial Chapel at 39th and M-291 in Independence, Mo. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial contributions to the Fraternity Order of Eagles, Vitas Care Center, or St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.
