Bernice Ellen Montgomery

Bernice Ellen Montgomery 86 of Independence passed away, Wed. Dec 27, 2006. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm Fri. Dec. 29, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm, Sat. Dec. 30 at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Bernice was born on May 3, 1920 to Oscar and Lucy (Cargill) Huff near Eldorado Springs, MO and had lived in the Independence area most of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed flower gardening and embroidering with her twin sister Beulah. She was a past member of the Eagles # 385 Ladies Auxiliary. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Montgomery in 1986. She is survived by her companion of many years, Robert Dorrell of Independence. A son, John Cheek and wife Cheryl of Elsberry, MO and a daughter Joyce Carriker and friend Jake Smith of Independence. Five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
