March 17, 1932 — April 6, 2011

Betty Jean Moore, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be at 11:00 AM Monday, April 11, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice East Office; 14500 E 42nd St. #240, Independence, MO 64055.

Betty was born March 17, 1932 in Thedford, Ontario, Canada the daughter of George H. and Jean N. (Poore) Mathers. She had received her BA in Behavioral Science from Penn State University in 1983. Betty was a Registered Nurse and had enjoyed volunteering for Kansas City Hospice. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Stephen W. Moore in 2009 and her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Burton and her husband John of Olivet, MI; Lynn McKinney and her husband Gerard of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter-in-law, Susan Moore of Camp Hill, PA: grandchildren, Daniel McKinney and his wife Megan of Johnson City, NY and Jared McKinney of Mechanicsburg, PA; and sister Ilene Herdman of Waterford, MI.
