Mardella Margaret Book Morris, 80, of Kansas City, MO, passed away, Sunday, March 8, 2009. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Mardella was born October 11, 1928 in Independence, MO, one of eight children, to James Sydney and Olive Florence Book. She completed her schooling in Independence and in 1949 she married Roger J. Morris and from their marriage they had 4 children; Roger Gary, Larry Richard, Mardella Margaret and Ronda Marie. Born and raised in Independence and the Kansas City. Mardella was a wonderful mother and homemaker being a gourmet cook. She loved to garden and kept a comfortable home for her family. For some years she was a waitress at fine restaurants in the area. Her earlier years she and Roger and family were bowlers having sponsored teams. Her favorite pastime was quilting and doing crossword puzzles in which she was excellent. Her husband Roger passed away in 1986 and a son Larry passed away in 1999. She is survived by her children, Roger Gary, his wife Zenny and their and family of Clovis, CA, Mardella Margaret and family and Ronda Campos, her husband Tony and their family all of Independence, MO; her grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Christopher, Larry, Wesley, Mary Margaret, Roger and Kristin; 9 great grandchildren whom she loved each dearly Also survived by; sister, Shirley and brothers, Darwin, James and Wayne and their families and several nieces and nephews. During the years Mardella made many visits to Branson, MO, San Diego, CA, Palm Desert, CA, Las Vegas, NV and Laughlin, NV with special pleasure. Needless to say, she will be missed by her family and neighborhood friends she had for over 50 years especially her best friend, Wanda, her healthcare provider Joy and scrabble partner Barbara.
