Anton “Tony” Mouritsen, Jr., 94, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away June 21, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. There will also be a 40&8 service in conjunction with the funeral service. The burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO. Tony was born October 31, 1919 in Kansas City, MO to Anton M. and Martha (Wittkopf) Mouritsen who preceded him in death. He was married to Harriet Louise (Souther) for 59 years, who also preceded him in death. He is survived by many cousins in America, Denmark and England; and countless friends through the various service organizations he was associated with. Tony was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry in 1942, transferring to the Army Air Corps in 1943 through 1945 serving in H Air Force 446 Bomb Group England. After returning to Kansas City, he began working for Klein Towel and Linen Supply for 23 years. In 1967, he was elected VP Business Agent for the Teamsters Local #335 from which he retired 15 years later. Tony was active in La Societe Des Quarante Hommes Et Huit Chevaux for 53 years, American Legion Post 71 for 68 years, Disabled American Veterans-E. Shiemann Heink for 61 years, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1000 for 44 years. Contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to the Greater Kansas City Chapter of American Red Cross, 211 W.
