Katherine Rose Moyer passed away October 15, 2008 in Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri of complications a month after a heart attack. Better known as Katie, she was 92.
Katie was born February 26, 1916 to Levi and Loretta Maley in Perry, Iowa. One of six children, all have preceded her except the youngest brother, Robert of Lafayette, Louisiana.
She belonged to the Church of Christ (temple lot) in Independence and loved working with children, having taught Sunday school to children in the primary age group for 31 years. Another love was music since she started playing on keyboards from the age of four, composing and improvising music on the piano and organ. She also played piano with a band, after retiring from the Bell System in Kansas City, Missouri. Preceded in death by her husband, Ersel F. Moyer of Lamoni, Iowa, she is survived by Carole Adams and husband Ray of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Jim Moyer and wife Peggy of Portland, Oregon, her first son Larry preceded her in death. Katie had six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Final services will be held Friday, October 17 at 2:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street. Visitation begins one hour prior.
