Stephen E. Mueller, 62, of Belton, MO, passed away, Sunday, May 31, 2009 following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Our Lady of Presentation parish in Lee’s Summit, MO. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Independence, MO. Stephen was born August 31, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph H. and Shirley E. (Smith) Mueller. He graduated from Lillis High School in 1962 and later from the University of New Orleans with a degree in engineering. He worked as an engineer for Burns and McDonnell, Honeywell, Allied Signal and Bendix Corporation for a number of years. He enjoyed the outdoors and his hobbies included sailing, fishing, biking, hiking, reading and archery. He was a man of character and integrity who always strove to do what was right. The family that misses him include; his wife Georgia (Shiffer); his daughters, Kathryn and her fiancée, Michael Gaherty, and Lauren Ackerman and her husband, Paul; his grieving parents, Joseph and Shirley Mueller; his siblings, Raymond Mueller and his wife Carole, Shirley Ann Snider, Ron Mueller and his wife Lois, Regina Gonzales and her husband, Joe, Sondra Mueller, Roberta Boitnott and her husband Rick as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his father and mother-in-law, George and Margaret Shiffer. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Shawnee Mission Medical Center for their valiant efforts.
