Iola Josephine Mullins, 89, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 31, 2011. Services will be at 7 pm, Thursday, Nov. 3 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will begin before the service at 5:30 pm. Graveside services will be at 1 pm, Friday at Ionia Christian Cemetery in Ionia, MO. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Ionia United Methodist Church.
Iola was born Jan. 13, 1922 to John David Friedly, Sr. and Amanda Josephine (Browning) Friedly in Stover, MO. On June 26, 1943, she married the love of her life, Junior Mullins. She was an active bowler, loved to crochet afghans and gave away many as gifts. She enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels and was always ready for a good game of dominoes or cards. With her focus on family and friends, she leaves a legacy of tremendous love.
Iola was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years Junior Mullins and brother John David Friedly, Jr. She is survived by brother Clarence Friedly and wife Ruth; sister-in-law Eunice Friedly, all of Sedalia, MO; sister-in-law Patty Lawrence and husband Sonny, Tabor, IA; son Larry Mullins and wife Janet, Hermitage, MO; daughters Marsha Sears, Pleasant Hill, MO; Rita Nicholson and husband Tom, Blue Springs, MO; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
