Highland E. Mulu, 45, of Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5609 S. Norfleet, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be 7-9:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Highland was born February 28, 1967 in Oakland, CA to Emelio and Maselina Aumua Mulumulu. He graduated from Truman High School in 1986 and attended DeVry University. He had worked as a computer operator and was currently employed for Janus Capital Management in Cherry Creek, CO. He had also worked at McDowell, Rice, Smith and Buchannan and Polsinelli and Shughart in Kansas City. He enjoyed music, writing songs and stories, golfing and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Second Ward in Independence, MO. He is survived by his former wife of 22 years, Joy Mulu of Aurora, CO; his fiancée, Kelly Rogers of Highlands Ranch, CO; 6 children, Jarrett Tyler Mulumulu of Olathe, KS, Devon Faleata Mulumulu, Reno Emelio Mulumulu, Jordan Siliana Mulumulu, Alec Pauaea Mulumulu and Lanei Magnolia Mulumulu all of the home; 3 sisters, Sueai Pese of Independence, MO, Lasi Redmond, West Jordan, UT and Lana Aumua of Lee’s Summit, MO; 2 brothers, Pauaea Aumua of Antioch, CA and Petelo Aumua of Independence, MO.
