Mary Ellen (Carpenter) Musick, 72, Independence, MO passed away peacefully on July 30, 2010 following an acute illness.
Mary was born October 21, 1937 in Kansas City, KS and attended Rosedale High School. Mary and James (Jim) Musick were married May 7, 1965 and lived over 40 years in the Independence area while raising three daughters. Mary was a beautician for many years before becoming an LPN after attending nursing school at Truman East Hospital. She practiced nursing, caring for the elderly in several nursing homes in the area. Mary devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Ellen (Spurgis) Carpenter, her father Roy Thomas Carpenter, and two brothers, LeRoy and Bill Carpenter.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, three daughters, Brenda Hoggard (Pete) Twila Kaeding (Julious) and Alana Dudley (Louis). She was blessed with eight grandchildren, (Cynthia, Christina, Brian, Scott, James, Jinessa, Joel and Joshua) and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mary will be greatly missed by her family who are comforted by the knowledge that she is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
