Myrtle V. Myers, 95, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
She was born in Greenfield, AR on May 1, 1913 to John William and Nona Beatrice (Teague) Houston. She was raised by her step-father, Emmett Mason due to the untimely death of her father at the age of 42. Myrtle married Rev. Charles Ott Myers on February 27, 1932 in Greenfield, AR. To this union six children were born. Charles Eugene, Ott Franklin, W. Joann, Phyllis Louise, one infant son and one infant daughter. Myrtle and Ott moved to Independence, MO in 1954, when her husband ministered at several churches. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and matriarch to her family. She devoted her whole life to God, church, family and prayed many a prayer for her loved ones.
Survivors include her daughters, Joann Pasley and Phyllis Myers-Doerr both of Independence; brother, Emmett Mason of Little Rock, AR. 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 11 great step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and best friends, Wanda Quigley and Rusty Wilson and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Houston, Nona Mason and step father Emmett Mason. Husband Charles Ott Myers; sons Charles Eugene Myers, Ott Franklin, Myers; one infant son and infant daughter. Son in law, Jerry Doerr; grandsons, Dennis, Frankie Lee, Keith Myers; brother, J.F. Houston; sisters, Louise Heeb and Emma Cooper.
