Dorothy Elizabeth Myrtle, 94 of Gilbert AZ, formerly of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, July 2, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Mt. Washington Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to the Independence School District Foundation to benefit the Dr. Robert Clothier Scholarship Fund. Dorothy was born November 16, 1916 in Wathena, KS to Lawrence B. and Ethel (Wells) Allen. She spent much of her life in the Independence area and was an active member of the Glenwood Methodist Church and was past Worth Matron of the O.E.S. in Independence, MO. She was married to Sherman Myrtle; he preceded her in death in 1988. Survivors include a son, Lawrence T. Myrtle and his wife Pam of Bates City, MO; 3 grandchildren, Brian Myrtle, Wendy Turner and Darcy Parks and 5 great grandchildren, Jayme, Cody, Samantha, Seth and Logan. She was preceded in death by a brother and 3 sisters.
