Kathryn E. Nance, 83 of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at Wilshire at Lakewood. Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at the Carson–Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice. Kathryn was born November 26, 1927 in Independence, MO to Virgil and Elizabeth (Wilcox) Weir and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman High School. She had worked at a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in the lat 1940’s. She then became loving and devoted wife mother and homemaker. She enjoyed artwork and was an artist herself. She was a member of the Community of Christ and the Real McCoys Extension Club. She was married to Charles A. Nance in 1947; He preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include; 3 daughters, Marsha Sappenfield and Charlene Fullerton both of Independence, MO and Melinda Emmite of Hannibal, MO; a son, Michael V. Nance of Independence, MO; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
