Nancy Elizabeth Fleming

Nancy Elizabeth Fleming, 74, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Nancy was born on November 9, 1952, to Clemens Eugene Recker and Etta Merle Recker. She grew up in Missouri and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1971. After high school, Nancy attended nursing school at Jackson County Hospital, graduating in 1976 and going on to dedicate her career to caring for others as a nurse.

On August 9, 1973, Nancy married the love of her life, Merle Eugene Fleming. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and helping others. From their union they were blessed with three children.

Nancy was known for being a devoted nurse, wife, mother, and daughter. She had a caring heart and was always willing to do anything for anyone. Her compassion and strength touched the lives of many people throughout her life.

She was a member of Brennan Free Will Baptist Church and later attended New Covenant Faith Center, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Nancy is survived by her children, Christina Martin, Gary Fleming, and Merle Eugene Fleming Jr; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Margo of California, niece Renee Recker, and other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemens Eugene Recker and Etta Merle Recker.

The family will announce memorial service information at a later time. Updates will be shared through Facebook once arrangements have been finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the family to help cover expenses.

Nancy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
