Naomi Lois Richardson touched the lives of many during her time on this earth. With a career spanning over 30 dedicated years at Western Electric, she left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the industry as a whole. Naomi's presence will be sorely missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Born in Warrensburg, Missouri on August 30, 1940, Naomi was the daughter of Jesse and Mona "Lois" Hammond. From a young age, she displayed a genuine kindness and love for others that would define her character throughout her life. Naomi's education was completed at Southeast High School, where she built the foundation for a future filled with success and compassion.
In addition to her illustrious career, Naomi had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She had an insatiable appetite for reading and found solace in the works of John Grisham, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz. Naomi also possessed a sweet tooth that could rival any confectionary enthusiast. Her talents extended into the realm of sewing, crafts, and genealogy research. Furthermore, she treasured her travel experiences to Alaska, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean.
On August 10, 2023, Naomi passed away in Blue Springs, Missouri. Her departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew her best. But amidst the sorrow that accompanies such times, we take solace in celebrating the incredible woman that she was.
Naomi's family and friends meant everything to her. She cherished every moment spent with them and held them close to her heart. She is survived by her beloved daughter Sara Banister (John Wood) along with Judy Furr (Judson Howard Jr.) and Marcine Jones, her cherished sisters. Naomi is also survived by Mary Vargas, Cheryl Daleo, Andy Richardson (her stepchildren), Robert Saladin, and Dustin Richardson (her step-grandchildren).
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mona "Lois" Hammond, as well as her beloved grandson Tyler Bossow, David Ritchie (her first husband and Sara’s father), Robert Richardson (husband). She is also preceded in death by Carol Ann Druen (sister), Jerry Hammond (brother), Michael Jones (brother-in-law), and Betty Saladin (stepdaughter) were all fortunate to have shared in Naomi's life.
To honor the memory of Naomi Lois Richardson, a series of services will take place. The visitation will be held on August 17, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Following the visitation, the funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM at the same location. Afterwards, the graveside service will be held at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit, Missouri guest are welcomed to meet at the cemetery but there will not be a procession from the service.
As we bid our final farewells to Naomi, let us remember her for the extraordinary woman she was. Her kindness, love for others, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends will forever be etched in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she made a positive impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
