George Needham

George Francis Needham, 81 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Monday, January 24, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation at 9:00am prior to service. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. George was born May 24, 1929 in Independence, MO to Enos and Ethel (Eastwood) Needham and has been a lifelong area resident. As a young man he served as a deputy sheriff for Jackson County. He worked at Trans World Airlines for 33 years as an electrician. After retirement he was a volunteer medic/EMT with the Lake Lotawana Fire Protection District. His hobbies included Amateur Radio (K0KIZ), electronic repair, home construction and dancing. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. George is survived by 3 daughters, Kathleen Harvey (Wes) of Alaska, Jeanne Zabel (Dean) of Virginia and Julie Needham of Independence, MO, a sister, Norma Schafer of Texas, 6 granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly (Hatch) in 1975 and his second wife Ellen (Culp) in 1996.
