Nicholas Roy Martin

November 11, 1983 — November 8, 2023

Nicholas Roy “Nick” Martin, passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2023, at the young age of 39. He was born to Carl and Jan Martin, late in the night, on November 11, 1983 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Nick was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. He held numerous job positions over the years, but Nick was most fond of his time spent working as a drone pilot for his father’s forensic engineering company. Nicholas took great pride in his knowledge and work as a drone pilot and in the course of his work, documented many conditions with his engineering work. His dedication and passion for his work were evident to everyone around him. His time working with his father were the best times for them and his dad will always cherish and preserve those memories most, and Nick knew that.

Nick had a personality that was as unique as it was endearing. He never knew a stranger and had a way of making those around him feel instantly comfortable. His protective nature extended to those he loved, always keeping their best interests at heart. Despite his quick wit and impulsive tendencies, he remained private and quiet, allowing his actions to speak louder than words. He would never hesitate to help those in need. He would do anything for his family or friends, as that meant the most to Nick.

Traveling was one of Nick's greatest joys in life. His adventurous spirit led him to explore new places whenever possible. His most memorable experience was his recent adventure to Thailand to visit a friend. Beyond his love for travel, he had a soft spot for furry friends. He dedicated much of his free time volunteering at animal shelters and showering dogs with affection. His beloved dogs included Sammie, Scuffins & Benders, Sandy, and of course his cat “Pooch”.

When Nick was not busy with work or exploring the world around him, he found solace in literature. He was an avid reader of Hunter S. Thompson books and had an affinity for philosophy. These passions allowed him to dig into the depths of human consciousness and contemplate life's greatest mysteries. Just weeks before his death, he was intensely reading the Physics of Immortality.

Nick Martin brought joy and light into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His untimely departure serves as reminder to embrace every moment, cherish those we hold dear, and live life with an adventurous spirit. May his soul find eternal peace as his memory will live on and will be in our hearts forever.

Nick is survived by his parents, Carl and Jan (Hollrah) Martin; brother Joey Martin (wife-Julie) and their children nephew-Luca and niece-Laurel, grandparents, Harold & Anita Martin; and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, preceded in death by grandparents Donald & Ruth Hollrah.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:30-3:30pm on Thursday, November 16th at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. His celebration of life will begin at 3:30pm.
