Edith M. “Dea” Nikel, 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Mon. May 17, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Sat., June 12, 2010 at the East 39th St. Community of Christ Church, 15006 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Mrs. Nikel was born on Jun. 24, 1921 to Roscoe and Mabel (Johnson) Davey in Salt Lake City, UT. She had been an RN with Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD., where she headed the School of Nursing. She retired in 1982. Dea was a meticulous seamstress and had made many wonderful items for family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved to play bridge. She was a member of the Independence Music Club, where she had been past president and treasurer. Dea is survived by three children, Peggy (Leonard) Young, Jan (Dennis) Padberg, Steve (Kathy) Nikel and her sister, Donna Moore,. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
