Emma Norman, 97, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel with burial to follow at Floral Hill Cemetery. Emma was born Oct. 6, 1912 in Weatherby, MO to John and Maggie (Nash) Dean. She married Ray Franklin Norman in 1936 and together raised two daughters, Carol and Deanna. Emma was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and traveling and loved children. Emma will be missed by all who knew and loved her for her spunky and feisty nature. Emma was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1972; sisters Dora Redman and Floy Foreman; brother Cleo Dean; and step-grandson Mike Otten. She is survived by her daughters Deanna Otten and husband Leo; Carol Robbins and husband Robin; grandchildren: Natalie Kurlander and husband Carl, and Norman Robbins; great-granddaughter Campbell Kurlander; step grandson Mark Otten and wife Vickie; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks the caregivers who made Emma’s life special and peaceful in the end. We don’t know what we would have done without their amazing care.
