Obid Arlen Kilgore, 89, passed away on June 18, 2026.

Obid was born on January 18, 1937, in Parthenon, Arkansas, the son of Ray and Eula Kilgore. He graduated from Jasper High School, Jasper, AR, in 1954, and studied for one year at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. 

Obid married Chari Thurman on October 6, 1956, and to this union were born two children, Cindy and David.

He was an electrician for Ford Motor Company for 35 years, before retiring in 1994. He also served as a leader for Boy Scouts of America, troop 228. He was a member of Blue Hills Baptist Church and the Angerona Masons Lodge 193. After retiring, he volunteered for several years at the Fairmount Christian Church food pantry and traveled the world with his beloved wife.

Obid loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bird watcher. He made many priceless memories in these endeavors, first as a young man in Newton County, Arkansas, then later in the Warsaw, MO area, with his closest friends and family. He will be remembered as a hard worker, skilled outdoorsman, loyal friend, loving husband and father, and a kind, generous man.

Obid is survived by his wife, Chari Kilgore, daughter Cindy Banks (Jim), son David Kilgore (Cristi), Sister-in-law Naomi Kilgore; Grandchildren Mathew Kilgore (Dawn), Maggie Chism (Bau); Step Grandchildren Cody Marsch (Morgan), Christopher Craine (Nicole), A.J Scruggs (Concetta), Dillion Craine (Hope), Harley Martin (William); Great grandchildren Ryan Kilgore, Josie Kilgore, Hazel Chism, Penny Chism; Great grand stepchildren Hunter, Alex, Cora, Harrison, Gryffin, River, Camren, Sadie, and Oliver; Numerous nieces and nephews; Long time close family friends Nadine Smothers, Ruth McCulley, Audrey Compton, Greg Smothers, and Larry Tindall.

He was preceded in death by his mother Eula Kilgore, father Ray Kilgore, brother Harold Kilgore, and three very close, very long-term friends; Lee Compton, LeRoy Smothers, and Gregg Tindall.

His life touched so many and he will live on forever in our hearts.
