Irene A. O’Dell, 86, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at her daughters home, surrounded by family.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S Lees Summit Rd, Independence, MO. Inurnment will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the City Union Mission.
Irene was born December 21, 1924 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of Manual Pedro and Rose (Silvia) Ferreira. She was a Baker for Tippin’s Restaurant and later with Hy-Vee before retiring in the late 1980’s. Irene enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and going to the casino. She loved baking and never gave out her secret cooking recipes.
Survivors include her son; Michael O’Dell of Liberty; daughter Luana O’Dell of Independence; grandchildren Michael O’Dell II and Samantha O’Dell; sister Elizabeth and half sisters, Rose and Cynthia. Brothers, Manny, Larry, Dennis, Danny and Joe Ferreira and half brother Donald Ferreira. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald “Digger” O’Dell in 1994; brothers, Albert and Tony and her parents.
