Judy E. Oglesby (Jackson)

June 10, 1951 — November 10, 2015

Judith Elaine Oglesby, 64, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Judy died in the presence of loving family members after a long battle with cancer and kidney failure. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd 'Pete' Jackson and her mother Martha Mansfield. Judy is survived by her husband, Clark Oglesby, Gravois Mils, MO, her brothers, John "Sonny" Viles, Kansas City, MO, Charles "Petey" Jackson, Leavenworth, MO, her sister, Diane Nelson, Independence, MO, and her son Shaun Oglesby, Independence, MO. Judy was born June 10, 1951 in Lexington, MO and lived the majority of her life in Independence. She spent the last year of her life enjoying every last moment at the lake. After graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1969, she worked for Hallmark for 18 years and Truman Medical Center Lakewood for 28 years. Judy loved being outdoors, often spending time gardening or just sitting in the sun. Judy inspired a special strength and calmness in us all, living her life with vigor and purpose. She was a passionate Chiefs fan, could sing you every Elvis song, and was overjoyed by the simple things in life. She was a loving wife, a caring sister, a wonderful mother, and an endearing friend. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the VFW Post 1000, 1002 E. US 24 Highway, Independence, MO 64050.
