Leanora Olson

Leanora Olson, 83, of Independence, MO passed away October 8, 2011. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence, MO. Leanora was born July 16, 1928 to Walter and Mary Pogue. In the late 1950’s, she moved to the Kansas City area from California, and originally Oregon, where she was born. She met Hugh Olson and they were married in 1962. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Cascade College and her Master’s degree from CMSU. Leanora taught school in the KCMO School District for over 30 years. Churches that she attended in the past were Central Bible Church, New Haven Baptist, Mt. Washington Baptist, Raytown First Baptist, Oakwood Baptist, and most recently Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. Leanora was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Olson. She is survived by her son, Richard Boyd; one niece and several nephews.
