Onetiario Netti Coats

July 20, 1954 — December 3, 2025

Onetiario “Netti” Falemai Ah-Loe Coats passed away on December 3, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1954, in American Samoa to Falemai and Maggie (Te’o) Ah-Loe.

Netti graduated from Mission High School in 1972. She married Ben Fomai in September 1978, and together they welcomed one son, Ben Faga Fomai, Jr.

During her years in San Francisco and American Samoa, Netti worked as a cosmetologist for eight years. In 1983, she moved to Independence, Missouri, where she worked for KC Posters before relocating to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1992. There, she changed professions and began a long and successful career as a construction engineer until her retirement.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Netti found joy in poetry, games, gardening, cooking, family gatherings, and caring for animals. She treasured the time she spent living back in American Samoa, creating memories that remained close to her heart.

Netti was ornery in the best way—feisty, prayerful, strong-minded, unapologetically honest, selfless, and unwaveringly loyal. She spoke her mind with courage and cooked comfort food with love. She was always there for her friends and family.

Netti is survived by her brothers Edde, Safsten, and Nick (Geri); her sisters Vesi (John Tauti), Solo’au (Darcy Jenkins-Te’o), Sadie (Nibley Taula), Siafuafu (Tala Roberts), and Salamasina (Alex Watkins); many nieces, nephews, and a great-niece; her hanai sister and best friend Rainey Hulet; and her hanai son Harley Hulet.

She was preceded in death by her parents Falemai and Maggie, her brothers Suapi, Saia, and Larry, and her son Ben Faga.

Our family will hold a private Celebration of Life on December 13, 2025.
