Oren Lee Hook

Oren Lee Hook, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024. He was 81 years of age.

Oren was born on August 21, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, the Son of Charles Oren and Dorothy Lee (Noland) Hook. He attended and graduated from Central High School and served as a Sargent in the United States Air Force.

Oren was a strong man and had great faith. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Legion and The Patriot Guard. Oren enjoyed traveling and riding his Harley and took annual trips to Sturgis. He spent the winter seasons in Arizona and held many hobbies such as camping, cooking, hunting, welding and machine tinkering. He was very handy and spent many hours tending to his yard. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them. Oren had a passion for helping those in need and had such a tender heart. He will be deeply missed by all.

Oren is survived by his children, Jason Hook, Jennifer Burke; Italian son, Nick (Yraisa) Rocca; grandchildren, Juliann Burke, Samatha (Tommy) Chappelow, Sierra (Dominic) Tatum, Gabby Rocca, Phil Rocca; former son in law, Jeremy Burke; extended family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Hook.

Services will take place Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Grace Church Independence, 3601 S. Sterling Ave. Independence, MO 64052. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm,  with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date. 

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to be made to Veterans charity of your choice in Oren’s honor.
