James Oshel, Sr.

James “Jim” L. Oshel, Sr., 64, of Independence, MO passed away December 18, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Jim was born February 17, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Fred and Dorothy (Watson) Oshel. He is survived by two sons, James Leslie Oshel, Jr. and Evan James Oshel; mother, Dorothy Oshel; two brothers, Fred Oshel, Jr. and wife Lorraine, David C. Oshel and wife Joyce; four nephews; one niece; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred A. Oshel. Jim was passionate about music, pocket billiards and freedom. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a man who always championed the underdog. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, at the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Congregation, 3371 Blue Ridge Blvd, Independence, MO 64052.
