Thomas R. Overfield, 61, Independence, MO passed away at his home March 23, 2009. Services will be 10 am, Sat., March 28, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence, MO. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm, Monday, March 30 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the NRA, ASPCA or the Humane Society.
Tom was born April 21, 1947 in Tulsa, OK and grew up there. He lived in Independence, MO for the past twenty-two years and was a master machinist for the A.E.M. Company for twenty years and Fairbanks Morse Company for the past eight years. Tom was an avid gun collector and loved to attend gun shows. He was an Episcopalian.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Jackie Sue (Sanderson) Overfield and grandson Derrick Idalski. He is survived by his daughters Pamela Campbell and husband Paul, Independence, MO; Sherry Gray, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Rocky McLaury, Overland Park, KS; Christopher Betts, Independence, MO; Ashley Gray; Charlie Gray, both of Kansas City, MO; Michael Betts, Independence, MO; great-grandchildren Shane McLaury and Michael Gray; and many cousins.
