Sunny Rae Owens (Mcclaren)

Sunny Owens, 72, of Independence, MO, passed April 23, 2015. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, April 27, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral Service 10:00 am Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Chapel. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Sunny was born on June 16, 1942, 1 of 3 children, to Millard and Lillian (Brumbaugh) McClaren in Milan, MO. She graduated high school in Browning, MO, where she excelled on the basketball court. On December 18, 1965 she married the love of her life, Benjamin “Benny” Owens. To this union 3 children were born. Sunny was very active in her children’s lives, include coaching Little League baseball teams, and Girl’s softball teams. She delighted in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Survivors include; husband of 50 years, Benny Owens; sons Kevin Owens and Steven Owens; daughter Kathy Hearn; grandchildren: Tyler Owens, Kobie Owens, Ciarra Owens, Ashlynn Owens, Brett Hearn Jr, Jasmine Hearn, and Brittany Pierson; brother Phillip McClaren, and a sister Shirley Scott.
