Hoyt Donald Palmer, 91 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Missouri Veterans Home 1300 Veterans Rd, Warrensburg, MO 64093. Hoyt was born December 30, 1921 in Cross Timbers, MO to Albert Lee and Evalyn (Turner) Palmer. He enjoyed gardening, farming and spending time with his grandchildren. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked as a welder for Allis Chalmers Manufacturing for a number of years until he retired in 1981, prior to that he worked at Butler Manufacturing. He was a member of Coventry Baptist Church. He was married to Mary Maxine Dickinson who preceded him in death on August 13, 2009. He is survived by; his children, Carolyn Andrews and her husband Roger of Preston, MO, Donald Palmer and wife Linda of Independence, MO and Charles Palmer and wife Nora of Blue Springs, MO; a sister, Neta Thrailkill of Raymore, MO; 7 grandchildren, LaVonne Engeman, Brian Johnson, Dela Palmer, Jason Palmer, Jennifer Timlick, Rebecca Andes and Leslie Pollard and 15 great grandchildren.
