Pamela Dee "Pam" (Love) Hudson of Independence, MO passed away on Thursday April 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and with John Denver songs playing in the background. Pam was born in Kansas City, Mo. on May 27, 1943, to the late Dena and Duane Love. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1961 and from Central Missouri State College in 1965.
Pam married the love of her life George Hudson in July of 1965, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage. The couple spent many wonderful years together, retiring early so that they could travel and see the world. They visited all 50 states and 15 countries. Pam is survived by their three children, Susie (Pat), Jeff (Christy) and Rob (Terra), five grandchildren Jeannette, Rebecca, James, Kona, and Alec and nieces Patti Ferrell and Whitney Nordentoft. Pam was preceded in death by her brother Gary Love and sister Genevieve Ferrell.
Pam had many talents. She was a great cook and won several ribbons at the Missouri State Fair for her jellies and pickles. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and always had great activities and camp outs with the girls. Pam was the score keeper for the baseball teams her sons played on as well as her grandson’s teams. Every summer Pam and George took the kids on cross country road trips, pulling the pop-up camper and staying at many National Park campgrounds, though Colorado was always a favorite destination. Once when having a picnic high up in the mountains of Colorado, Pam found what we were pretty sure were John Denver’s glasses. Metal detecting was a big passion in Pam’s life, and she and George went on many metal detecting excursions and hosted their club’s yearly hunt. Pam worked for the Mid-Continent Public Library for 20 years. Once retired Pam had more time for geocaching and mahjong. Pam was an enthusiastic sports fan and shared her love of the Royals and Chiefs to her children. Her love of golf and NASCAR did not trickle down as easily. Pam’s love of baseball can be traced back to her teen years when she babysat Roger Maris’ children (though she never rooted for the Yankees!) Pam was a kind and loving woman and will be deeply missed.
Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army.
