Louis Sherman Parks, 81, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, October 01, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the chapel. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, KC Office, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, MO 64105. Louis was born May 13, 1930 in Henry County, MO to Elmer Louis and Birdie Lorraine (Witherspoon) Parks, a brother to Birdie McClung, Harriet Parks and Marcia Dee Miller. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Parks will always be remembered for his generous and kind heart, and his quaint smile. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jerry McDowell. Louis was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Lou Parks; and son Ronnie Parks. The family extends their gratitude for the love and care given to Louis by the staff at Centerpoint Medical Center.
