Patricia Ann
Fitzgerald
January 24, 1937 – March 19, 2026
Patricia Ann Fitzgerald passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 19, 2026, in Independence, Missouri. Born on January 24, 1937, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Patricia’s vibrant spirit and fearless nature left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Patricia was known for being very outgoing and full of energy, a woman who never knew a stranger and embraced life wholeheartedly. A morning person by nature, she was always up early and ready for the day, eager to engage with the world around her. Her professional journey was distinguished by her role as a commercial artist. Her talent, dedication and hard work led to her position as an advertising manager at Pegues department store, where her talent for illustrating commercial artwork brought ads to life. It was in this creative atmosphere that she met Edward, the love of her life, whom she married in 1961. Their union brought joy and stability, creating a foundation of love that sustained her and their family.
After her retirement, Patricia nurtured her passion for gardening by becoming a master gardener. She was actively involved in community life, serving as an HOA board member and newsletter writer for multiple neighborhoods, sharing her voice and insights. When the opportunity to travel arose, she loved to head to the beach with her family; it was her happy place—a serene refuge where she found peace and joy. She also delighted in birdwatching and took great pleasure in feeding the birds that visited her yard. Among Patricia’s proudest accomplishments was her family. She adored them more than anything else in her life, especially the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her family were the essence of who she was, and her legacy will live on in their hearts forever.
Patricia's passing is preceded by her parents, Archie and Velma McKee; her beloved husband, Edward Fitzgerald; her daughter, Katherine Fitzgerald; her sister, Marilyn McCaskill; her brothers-in-law, Jay McCaskill and Jack Fitzgerald; her sisters-in-law, Angela Fitzgerald and Ann Walker, as well as her niece, Erin Walker. Her vibrant legacy lives on through her daughter, Laura; her grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, and Brianna; her great-grandchildren, Freddy, Levi, and Emersyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
