Patricia Joan Sims, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Born on May 15, 1952, Patricia grew up in the heart of Missouri, where she blossomed into a fun and loving person whose warmth and spirit touched everyone around her.
Patricia dedicated much of her life to her career as an administrative professional, initially in retail at TG&Y, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Cato Sims, Jr., later transitioning to accounts receivable in banking. After years of hard work and commitment, she retired from Independence Manor Care, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.
Family was always at the center of Patricia's life. She took immense pride in being a mother embracing the joys and challenges of parenthood with grace and unwavering support. Patricia cherished her role as a grandmother, imparting love, and wisdom to her grandchildren. She was blessed to hold the title of great-grandmother, a role she treasured deeply. She never cared what she had, she was always too busy giving to others, she loved to pick tomatoes with her great granddaughter Henley and deeply loved her grandkids and all types of gardening.
Among Patricia's many passions, she loved playing games and cards with her family, creating joyful memories that will forever echo in their hearts. A lover of music, she found solace and happiness in melodies, often expressing her creativity through painting and cooking, with a special fondness for spicy foods. Patricia had a green thumb, nurturing her garden with love, and found joy in caring for her plants and birdwatching, each moment bringing her closer to nature.
Patricia's kind and supportive nature made her a pillar of strength for her loved ones. She was a constant source of encouragement, nurturing dreams and aspirations while celebrating the small victories in life. Her infectious laughter and loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Patricia is survived by her loving children, Cato (Molly Windsor) Sims, III, Samantha (Tom) Wilcutt; grandchildren, Jordan McKinney, Taylor (Ashlynn Mitchell) Sims-Kobe, Zackary McKinney; great grandchild, Henley Mitchell; and nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
