Patricia Ann "Pat" Townsend, 76 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday August 29, 2026, at the Speak Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening August 28, 2026, at the chapel. Pat was born August 11, 1950, in Independence, MO to Stanley and Virginia (Brown) Calvert and has been a lifelong area resident. After retiring from floral design at various flower shops, she began working at the Customer Service/Cash Office at McKeevers Price Chopper. She was employed there for over 20 years. She loved floral design, taught floral classes for Adult Education, playing dominos with church friends, but most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was one of the charter members of St. Matthews UMC along with her parents, where she remained very involved, especially with the UMW group until her health prevented her from such. Pat was married to Clarence "Chuck" Townsend on December 18, 1971. During their early years of marriage, they spent time moving around with the Air Force whenever Chuck was Stationed. Chuck preceded her in death on January 21, 2021. She is survived by; 2 daughters, Carrie Geib (Jon) and Amanda Hough (Geovondie) of Independence, MO; 3 siblings Michael Calvert (Cindi) of Independence, MO, Rick Calvert (Laurine) of Liberty, MO, Becky Calvert of Independence, MO; a sister in law Connie Hayes of Mt. Vernon, IL and 3 grandchildren, Hailey, Grayson, and Geneva; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Kim Glynn.
