Patsy Ann Strode, 78, of Raymore, MO, passed away Monday July 31, 2023. Cremation is planned with private memorial services to be held.
Patsy was born on February 27, 1945, in Kansas City, MO, to Lester Earl Pyle and Opal Maxine (Crugar) Pyle. She lived most of her adult life in Independence, MO. Patsy worked for Montgomery Ward from 1960- 1967. She became a stay-at-home mom in 1968 and was always on the go cleaning houses, sewing, babysitting, etc. for extra money while she raised her three kids. She joined Eastern Star in 1976, East Gate Chapter #367 Order of Eastern Star and was made Worthy Mason in 1983.
Patsy always went above and beyond for every holiday, making it so special for her kids, their spouses, and the grandkids. So many memories were made on cookie day for Christmas (she would bake cookies for days), fun Easter egg hunts, and Thanksgiving lights. She made the best pies and homemade rolls you’ve ever tasted.
Patsy had so many talents, among these were making beautiful quilts for all her kids and their spouses, grandkids, and great grandkids, landscaping flowers, gardening, and corn sacks galore. She was truly an amazing woman and an inspiration.
One of the greatest joys in her life was being able to help raise her grandkids so that her children could work, never asking for a thing in return. She would take all eight grandkids to garage sales with their little fanny packs and they loved it. Caregiving was just a special gift of hers and honestly one of the hardest jobs there is. Patsy was also a two-time cancer survivor!
Patsy is survived by her daughter Rebecca Zackert and her husband Terry of Raymore, MO, daughter-in-law Christy Strode of Independence, MO, 7 grandchildren; Joey Strode, Amanda Candioto, Amber Young, Anderson Young, Daniel Strode, Ashley Manning, Kayla Vertz, and their spouses. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren; Logan Strode, Landon Strode, Leo Candioto, Jolene Candioto, Mari Rae Candioto, Sophie Manning, and Mila Manning.
She is preceded in death by a grandson Jesse Strode in 2015, husband Chilton Strode in 2018, son Gordon Strode in 2019, and son David Strode in 2022.
