Phoebe Patterson

Phoebe “Opal” Patterson, age 97, of Kansas City, MO, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 25, 2008. Graveside services will be at 2 pm, Monday, July 28, 2008 at Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
God blessed this world with Opal on March 17, 1911. She was born in Sibley, MO to Albert and Emily (Bault) Weddle. She married Gilbert Lee Patterson on July 18, 1932 in Buckner, MO. Opal worked for Farmer’s Insurance Company until her retirement in the 1970’s.
Opal loved the Lake of the Ozarks where she and Gilbert were always trying to catch the “BIG ONE”. Needless to say, fish was her favorite meal. She dearly loved her family and friends. Opal will always be known for her beautiful smile and her loving and caring ways.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Gilbert. She will be deeply missed by her nephew, John “Mike” Hurlock; her niece, Sharan Lesmeister and husband David; her dear friends and caretakers, Joyce and Albert Gleichman and all who knew her. The family would also like to express their thanks to the nurses of the Kansas City Hospice who lovingly brought her comfort in her latter days.
