Ralph E. Patterson, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at his home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel. Graveside service 1:00 p.m. January 9, 2010 in Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Ralph was born August 27, 1920 in Oklahoma City, OK to James W. and Fannie Myrtle (Carter) Patterson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 1st Class stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Mr. Patterson retired from Schlumberger after 26 years of faithful service before starting his own business, Spaced-Rite Maintenance and Striping Service. Ralph was a master craftsman and during his active years there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix. He was an active and dedicated member of Zion’s Witness Restoration Branch. Mr. Patterson is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Bobbye J. (Eakin) Patterson; sons Ralph C. Patterson and wife Barbara, Louis W. Patterson and wife Kyoko; grandchildren Trent and Mandy Patterson, Wendy and Chris England, Lance and Kristin Patterson, Kurt and Miwa Patterson-Terauchi, Grant and Kristi Patterson-Terauchi; great-grandchildren Kyler, Caden, Abby, Jack, Rick and Noah. He was preceded in death by his sister Nellie and brother James.
