Carol Pattison

January 4, 1943 — July 19, 2014

Born in Weaubleau, Missouri - Carol was the first of two daughters born to Wendell and Mildred Marie. Her ‘Home-Going’ date came much too soon on 7/19 after a long and hard fought battle with breast cancer. Her courage was phenomenal! Her strength and strong Faith was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Carol grew up in Golden City, Mo. where she was a graduate of GCHS. She had many wonderful friends in school, many of whom remained friends as close as sisters all through her adult life. Following graduation from high school she journeyed to Omaha, Nebraska where she received training to become a teletype operator. Her first post-graduate career experience took her to New York City for a position at Western Union located in the United Nations building. She loved the adventures of NYC while there but soon returned to Missouri where she was employed at General Motors and later Phillips Petroleum. Her return to Missouri allowed her to find the love her life, Wayne Pattison, a former school-mate from Golden City. Together they began what would become a happy and successful 51 year marriage on May 24th. To that union were born two children Kimberly Burnett and Brian Pattison. Carol was a loving and devoted Wife & Mother who didn’t work outside the home during her children’s school years. She later worked for JR Stewart Construction and SBSI from which she retired in 2000. Carol & Wayne were long time residents of Independence, Missouri where they were active members of Christ United Methodist Church.
Carol was very active in school activities with her children and grandchildren. She also served as President of Sycamore Hills PTA. In retirement her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Bianca, Devon & Brandon Pattison and recently a Great Grandson, Nathan Winegar.
Carol’s greatest mission in life seemed to be caring for and doing for ‘others’ which she did superbly well. She leaves a huge host of friends, family and loved ones– Her Devoted Husband, Wayne Pattison; Daughter & Son-in-law, Kimberly & Gene Burnett; Son Brian Pattison & Daughter-in-law Luisa Pattison; Grandchildren Bianca Pattison, Devon Pattison, Brandon Pattison; Great Grandchild, Nathan Winegar; Sister, Marilyn Cuthbertson; Nephew, Glen Cuthbertson; Sister-in-law, Janie Herigon; Niece Bonnie Herigon; Nephew, Allen Herigon; Uncle, Jack Vest; numerous cousins and a large circle of lifelong friends. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for her smile, her laughter, her positive approach to life and the deep love she so generously bestowed on her family & friends.
