Jack J. Patton, 77, Independence, MO passed away May 26, 2008 at his home. Services will be 2 pm, Friday, May 30, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO; interment at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Care Alternatives Hospice.
Jack was born July 9, 1930 to Bert & Polly Patton in Jenkins, MO. He graduated from Alba High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion. Jack was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local #27 for 50 years. He made many friends over the years while working on most schools, hospitals and power plants in the Midwest.
Jack was a faithful member or the 39th Street Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for several years. Jack dedicated his life to his wife of 53 years, Shirley and his family. His proudest accomplishments were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved taking family vacations while his children were growing up.
Jack is survived by his wife Shirley, of the home; son Perry Patton and wife Deanna, Independence, MO; son Mark Patton and wife Barb, Harrisonville, MO; daughter Jackie Hildebrand and husband Mike, Competition, MO; daughter Linda Stewart and husband Eric, Blue Springs, MO; daughter Polly Thomson and husband J.D., Grain Valley, MO; daughter Kelly Stewart and husband Darryl, Fremont, NE; son Steve Patton and wife Christine, Blue Springs, MO; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Georgia Johnson, Carthage, MO.
Jack was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his loving family.
