Paul D.
Moore
Mar 19, 1953 — Sep 20, 2026
Independence
Paul Dean Moore, 73, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026. He was born on March 19, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Paul was a hardworking and dependable man who spent many years as a steelworker for WireCo before transitioning into a surveillance position at Ameristar Casino. Throughout his life, however, his greatest pride was never his work—it was the people he loved.
Paul never knew a stranger. He had a gift for talking to anyone and making them feel welcome, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. If someone needed him, Paul was there, no matter the circumstance. He was especially devoted to his family, whom he adored beyond measure. He was the kind of person people could count on, and his generosity and willingness to care for others touched so many lives.
Paul met the love of his life, Anna, when they were still in high school. From those early days, the two were inseparable. They married on April 8, 1972, and shared 54 years together as husband and wife, faithfully walking beside one another through sickness and health. In recent years, Paul devoted himself to caring for Anna, nurturing and supporting her with patience, tenderness, and unwavering love. Their life together was a testament to a lifelong love and commitment.
Paul loved to cook, and for him, cooking was far more than preparing a meal—it was how he showed love. Feeding the people he cared about brought him joy, and his kitchen was often a place where family and friends gathered, shared stories, and felt cared for. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing, and spending time at casinos. But more than any hobby or pastime, Paul loved being surrounded by the people who mattered most to him. Paul’s greatest gift was simply being there—and he spent his life making sure the people he loved never had to face life alone.
Paul’s passing was preceded by his parents, Oscar and Audrey Moore. His legacy of love lives on through his beloved wife, Anna Moore; his children, Niccole Nelson (Patrick) and Paul Moore Jr.; his grandchildren, Kelsey Rodewald (Tyler), Courtney Conway (Cameron), Zachary Darby (Colton); and Kylee Gorbet; his great-grandchildren, James Rodewald, Madelyn Rodewald, and Claire Conway; his siblings, Charles Moore, Stella Harmon, Sharon Elias, Kay Lienhard, and Douglas Moore, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Speaks Suburban Chapel from 6-8 pm. On Thursday, September 24, 2026, a funeral mass will be held at 11 am at St. Mark Catholic Church. A graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery will immediately follow.
