Lillian Fountaina Paxton, 91, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19th at Carson-Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20th at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Lillian was born March 4, 1924 in Courtney, MO as one of seven children to Frank Herman and Lena Dora (Schornhorst) Wolf. She attended school in Blue Springs before entering the work force to help her family. She married Lawrence Paxton on April 13, 1942 and together they raised two children. She worked for many laundry companies including, Independence Laundry and Blue Ridge Cleaners. Lillian was a talented seamstress and made many items for family and friends. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, her dog, and especially her family. Lillian supported her grandson’s participation in the Special Olympics. Her family remembers her as strong willed and loving.
Survivors include son, Lawrence E. Paxton (Madge V.) of Independence, MO; daughter, Linda Harrington (“Woody”) of Freemon, MO; grandchildren, Lawrence Oliver Paxton, Lori Jean Bandanish, Carl Robert Paxton, D.M. Davis, and Dustin Davis; eleven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her siblings, Marie Troup, Chris Riddle, Hazel McLaughlin, Henry, George, and Clarence Wolf; and grandson, Cecil L. Harrington.
