Russell Pearson

June 21, 1924 — July 16, 2008

Russell W. Pearson, 84 of Blue Springs passed away Wed. July 16, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, July 27 Colonial Hills Community of Christ in Blue Springs. Visitation will be from 6:30 �" 8:30 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO. Mr. Pearson was born on June 21, 1924 to Nels and Iva (Horne) Pearson in Almora, MN. Russell had been a Minister and Bishop with the Community Christ Church. He had served as an Appointee in the Center Stake and the World Church Headquarters. Russell was a professional Civil and Sanitary Engineer and had managed various aspects of the construction and Maintenance of the Auditorium, lighting of the dome and the recording studio. He had been involved in projects for the church such as the Stone Church Education Building, Dining Hall, the campgrounds at Central Michigan Headquarters, Renovation of the a building into the Center Stake Headquarters Building and many other projects. He had been Assistant to the Center Stake and Presiding Bishopric, was president of Restoration Trails Association, President of Inter Faith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture, Chairman of the Little Blue Valley Coordinating Committee, Past President of Bellevista Development Corp. and a Past Chairman of the Independence Public Utility Advisory Board.
Russell was a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a proud member of the Logan Iowa High School Class of 1943. He proudly served his country from 1942 �" 1946 in the U.S. Navy.
Russell is survived by his wife Betty Jean Pearson of Blue Springs; three children: Jan Elaine Jordan and husband Larry of Independence; Eric Nels Pearson and wife Kathy of Independence; and Russell Mark Pearson and wife Susan of Independence, MO; ten grandchildren, Cori Conway, Briana Conway, Anne Jordan, Carla and Craig Williams, Patricia Kaye and Wayne William Schroeder, Danny Lee Moore, Chad Nicholas Pearson, Jennifer E Pearson, Carolyn Jean Pearson and Russell Graham and Emily Beth Pearson; one great-grandchild, Karinn Dawn Conway.
