Mildred Jean (Atkins) Peden, 87, Independence, MO passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013.
A memorial visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052.
Mildred was born February 28, 1926 in Perry, KS the daughter of Thomas Fount and Clara Caroline (Howery) Atkins. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City, MO in 1943. During 1944-1945, she worked at the North American Aviation in Fairfax, KC, KS as, Rosie the Riveter, working on B-25 Mitchell bombers. Mildred later worked for the Jackson Distribution Co. as their computer operator for 15 of 19 ½ years of employment.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Scott Peden; sister, May Dene Gates and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Sue Murray and her husband Keith; son Stephen Craig Peden and his wife Linda; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two dear cousins, Lucille Cayou and William James.
