Virgilio M. “Chilo” Pena, 70, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Susquehanna Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Virgil was born January 19, 1938 in Rosenberg, TX to Leonides and Teodosa (Madrid) Pena. He was a member of Susquehanna Assembly of God Church. Mr. Pena retired from GM after 30 years of service in 1989. His lifelong dream came true with the marriage of his wife Beatrice and the birth of his five children. His life centered around his family. Virgil was a hardworking man who was always available to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Chilo is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice (Navarro) Pena; children Virgil Pena, Jr. and wife Gloria Jo, Jimmie Lee Pena, Sal Pena and wife Deborah, Rosemary Britton, Victor Pena and wife Michelle; grandchildren Christina and Jeremy Cato, Kimberly and Michael Pena, Angel and Fernando Peraza, Valentino Pena; great-grandchildren Tyler, Tony and Marissa Cato, Kaylee and Elias Peraza; brothers Edward Pena and wife Rosie, his twin brother Liborio Pena and wife Irene; sisters Susie Cortez and husband John, Minnie Gracia. Virgil was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
