Jessie Cathryn (Potter) Pence, 92 of Port Charlotte, FL. Passed away, Monday, December 1, 2008 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made to Outreach International or to the Salvation Army. Jessie was born April 28, 1916 in Independence, MO to John C. and Willie Delma (Bridges) Potter and was a longtime independence resident. She was a member of the O.E.S. and was a leader in Jobe’s Daughters Bethel #29 in Independence for many years. She and her husband were members of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. After her husbands retirement, they moved to San Marcos, TX where she lived for 18 years. After his death she moved to Port Charlotte, FL. She is susrvived by; two brothers, Seymour Potter of Madison, TN and Robert Potter of Independence, MO; a sister, Martisha Watson of Port Charlotte, FL: sister in law and brother in law Shirley and Dale Shupe; sister in law Ruby Pence and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen R. Pence, a brother, William C. Potter and sister Cleo Potter Lysaght.
