James Pennington

James “Jim” Pennington, 78, Independence, MO died July 6, 2012. Services will be 11 am, Monday, at the First Baptist Church of Independence, 500 W. Truman Rd, Independence, MO 64050; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am before the service. The family suggests contributions to the church, Hillcrest Ministries, 401 N. Spring, Independence, MO 64050 or Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy, #201, K.C., MO 64114.
Jim was born in Dent County, MO to Herbert and Linna Pennington. He was a member of the church and was a Farmer’s Insurance Group Agent for thirty-three years. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also past President of the West Independence Rotary Club and an avid Royals fan.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diane and son Dan. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Clydene Pennington, of the home; sons Barry Pennington and wife Betty, Blue Springs, MO; Jeffrey Pennington, Smithville, MO; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
