Mary Jane Mitchell Amos Perusich, 72, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Carmel Hills Living Center.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Inurnment will follow at Greenton Cemetery, Odessa, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary was born January 8, 1938 in Grain Valley, MO the daughter of William and Ina (Harris) Mitchell. She graduated from Grain Valley High School and married her childhood sweetheart Jim Amos. She attended business college and worked for BMA “Business Men’s Assurance” before giving birth to and raising her two children. Mary was active in her children’s lives and served as PTA President, Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Young Matrons. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence, and was employed at the Truman Library and Independence Regional Hospital. Mary enjoyed painting, writing, traveling, reading, watching movies and eating popcorn. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was proud of her Scottish Heritage.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Mitchell, Millie Davis and her parents.
Survivors include her loving husband of 13 years, Frank A. Perusich; daughter, Debbie Towles and her husband Tim of Independence; son, Scott Amos and his wife Barbara of Liberty; step-daughters, Cindi Weikel and her husband Mike of Independence; Donnita Davis and her husband Gary of Houston, TX; and Ronda Cartwright of Kansas City, KS; step-son Frank A. Perusich, II. and his wife Pat of Kirksville; 22 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
