Virginia A. (Bratcher) Peterson, 79, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 20, 2012. Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the First Christian Church of Independence, 125 S. Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050; Cancer Action, 4010 Lynn Court Drive, Independence, MO 64055 or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
Virginia was born Jan. 23, 1932 in Cameron, MO and graduated from Cameron High School. She attended Park College and Rockhurst University. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the First Christian Church of Independence where she served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Hamilton Sunday school class. She was an independent insurance agent for over forty years. Virginia was also a long-time square dancer and a member of the Gem Sets, Plaza Singles, Single Promenaders and One by Ones. She was a member of the American Legion and had volunteered at MCI.
She leaves behind her three children: Mitch Peterson; Marty Lindsey and husband Joe; Cindy Springer and husband Bill; grandchildren Jessica and Chris Peterson; John and Micah Lindsey; Casey and William Springer; brother Earl Ray Bratcher and cousin Karen Byers.
