Alta Luella Pettitt died October 1, 2008 at her home in Independence, MO. Luella was born July 12, 1930 in Dallas County, MO the daughter of Willard D. and Lela (George) Pettitt. She grew up in Charity, MO, briefly worked for the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C., then relocated to the Kansas City metropolitan area where she retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 30 years of service. Surviving are her daughter, Janine Pettitt (Stalnaker) of Kansas City, MO; son, Randy Pettitt and wife, Debra of Blue Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Mark Stalnaker and Christopher Stalnaker of Independence, Jessica Pettitt and Michael Pettitt of Blue Springs; sister, Willa May Akers of Sugar Creek, and bother, Jack Pettitt and wife, Mona of Spring Hill, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Yolanda Thurman of Spring Hill, KS and Deanna Lillegard of Monett, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 11th at Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation. Future internment will be in Mission Chapel Cemetery in Elkland, MO.
